Evolution 2.0
Evolution 2 is a long waiting software for Gnome Desktop. However, it still take some road to be a killer application.
Once I wish that it can replace my news reader. However, evolution support on netnews is pretty poor. No thread view, cannot display multi-byte subject well and strange interface.
After create a netnews account, I still cannot read news. It spent me a lot of time to find how to subscribe newsgroup. In most news reader, you can right click the news service name to subscribe newsgroup. But it do not apply on Evolution. Finally, I found the way after reading the evolution online help. You need to choose tools>subscribe to folder on the menu bar in order to subscribe newsgroup. How user friendly is it?
It is really a disaster to read news without thread view. But I saw the developer is working on it. Wish to see result soon.
Besides, evolution also fail to display the non-standard big5 news subject. Mozilla Thunderbird allow user to set default encoding for each newsgroup and able to display the news subject well.
Anyway, netnews reading is not a main point of Evolution but at least I hope they can improve the usability and needn’t to ask user to read manual.

It does not notify on tray area. It cannot read RSS. It have bunch of weaknesses. However, given one reason only — exchange support, I cannot reject it.
DanW had wrote an RSS feeding EPlugin few months ago named evolution-brianread. Don’t know if they will include it in next version of Evolution
