很有趣，當別人知道我住在天水圍，在我沒有或曾經解釋過我情況下，大部份人都假定我住在嘉湖山莊。這確實令我有點納悶，難度天水圍只有一個嘉湖山莊，難度他們不知道天水圍還有很多公屋、居屋和私人樓!?

當阿當 和巴蛮子 都談 GNU/Linux 上 Exposé 時，我也偷一偷 Geoffrey 的功勞插一句口。話說Geoffrey 早在去年八月就題過有關功能，並題到 X 上有 Expocity 及 Skippy 都可以做到類似功能。 Geoffrey 當時亦包了個 Skippy 的 Debian Package。事隔半年， Skippy 早已進入了 Sarge 。不過不可以顯示所有workspace上的視窗，差了點。

I didn’t had much interest on those reality shows in past. It really disgust me a bit when I first heard the rules of The Survivor. I just think that is only a show which try to dig out the dark side of human nature to get a high watching rate. But I found that I can learn something from the show when I watch one episode of The Apprentice last year in accident and become a big fan of it. In these few months, I also being a big fan of The Amazing Race. AXN keep up with CBS very well and show the latest episode only 12 hours after CBS show it.

My 3 favorite teams in Season 7 are Rob & Amber (What a smart team!!), Uchenna & Joyce and Merenith & Gretchen. Being an over sixty senior couple (69 & 66), I’m so happy to see they were still survived after 7 legs. They are both tough and lucky. The rhinos fund joke is the most amazing joke in this season. After they need to give out all their money and package to stay on the race while being the last place on leg 5, they put the new resources that they had collected in recent legs in the plastic bag. It really make me laugh when I saw them carry the bag every time. Gretchen like a senior who have just shop in a supermarket and Merenith like a guy being asked to deliver the rubbish to trash room or dump cart at night. When Gretchen bought a new bag in an airport on Episode 7, She like a small primary school girl. Wish to see that they can stay in the race longer!!

Hey, what is the most stupid configuration mistake you have seen?

I suppose the most common mistake made by many companies few years ago was choosing non RFC1918 specified IP range (192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) for their private network. I met many clients suffer the problem and most of their administrator are too lazy to fix it. Once, I had work in an “enterprise” and got a task to write some program to feed data from a content provider and publish them on our website as HTML. The program function well for over half year. But suddenly, I got a report that the content in our website was not up-to-date. I checked the program and found that it fail to connect to FTP server of the content provider. I even found that the whole office cannot connect to FTP server but I can connect them well from my home and my private server (niet.xychen.org) in another data center. I try to contact our network administrators and discuss the problem with them. However, the result I got was the server of the content provider is “not” reachable and my fellows refusing to investigate the cause of the problem. I was annoyed by my fellows’ attitude but I understand deeply that I would got some political trouble if I don’t shut up. My final solution was using a server in another network to feed the content and pass it to the server in our data center. Silly but works. After I quit the company for a while, some of my old fellows (not in the network administration team) told me that they found the cause finally. One of the partners of my old company is using the same IP network as the content provider in accident for their private network. And my old company had built a VPN with that partner company which make us fail to connect the content provider. What a case to show the problem choosing a wrong IP range and the political problems of a big company!

I stated that coz I had already leave that fucking company for a long time and I was recalled that when I discover another stupid mis-configuration today. I found a mail stuck in my mail server and fail to deliver few minutes ago coz my Postfix fail to connect to a mail server with IP address 10.0.0.2!? I check the MX record of the target domain of the mail and found they had mis-configured the MX server to 10.0.0.2. Interesting!? I wonder how can I contact their system administrator and tell what a stupid mistake they had made.

近來確實不太想在一些極端基督教徒附近逗留，聽著他們對天主教教宗的批評，總想破口叫他們尊重一下死者。記得當年德蘭修女死時，也看過一些基督教徒的評論，令我為之咋舌。當然，每個人都有作過錯事，但只因「宗教」不同，而否定別人一生所作的善行，實在令我為之不屑。反正在我來說，天下烏鴉一樣黑，有宗教信仰和沒有信仰其實都沒有分別。哈!

搞了 MediaWiki 好一段時間，倒沒有留意 MediaWiki 有個不錯的插件 Graphviz ，讓 MediaWiki 可以在文章加入 <graphviz> tag 可以繪出頗美觀的有向圖，對解釋一些軟件關係和網絡結構似乎都頗有用。有時間，考慮安裝在 OSWikiHK 中。
