我不是指建立一個網站供人寫 blog 或協助人寫 blog 。而外國已有一些公司聘請人寫 blog 或把寫 blog 放入員工工作範圍的一部份。WSJ報導這些職業blogger年薪約四萬到五萬多美金，條件好像頗吸引。但有關blogger一般都需要管理多個不同形式的blog，而顧用這些blogger大都期望可以透過blog加強公司和顧客的關係、收集多點顧客的意見及增加其產品的銷量，所以一般都找一些善長口語式寫作blogger。

事實上隨著 Blog 文化的流行慶起，不少企業都意識到blog對其公司運作及印象的影響。很多員工在其blog多少都會談及工作上的事，引起了不少顧客。blog令一些顧客可以更直接接觸到一些産品的開發者或有關員工，亦可以取得公司主要職員對市場及世界的看法。有趣地，這一切一切令公司和顧客建立了一種和一般宣傳手法很不同另類的溝通渠道。

上週末初次在LinuxTalk對 Wiki 及 OSWikiHK 作了簡單的介紹，反應不一。有不少人表示有興趣知道更多和協力 OSWikiHK 的專案，亦有人認為有關talk過份冗長。不過大體我可能會在六月尾搞個 MediaWiki setup 的workshop 。無獨有偶， Time 這期也介紹了Wikipedia，亦略提 Wiki 在百科全書以前的應用 和商業 Wiki 産品。現時比較著名的商業 Wiki 有 SocialText 及 JotSpot 。SocialText 有不少出名顧客，如 Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Nokia 及 Kodak 等。 JotSpot 的 Wiki 仍只在 Beta 狀態，但其 tour 提供了頗有趣的 Wiki 各類應用念頭。

除了 Time，Fortune 早前也有篇文章談及 Wiki 在商業的應用。而 Gilbane Report 也有篇很好的文章討論 Blog 及 Wiki 兩種新技術在商業上的變奏等。

這幾天忙著 OSWikiHK ，先 upgrade 到 MediaWiki 1.4.4 ，可以自動轉換繁簡中文，向外連外亦會自動加上了 rel=”nofollow” 屬性，對未來 anit-spamming 頗重要。 改動了一些設定，令 OSWikiHK 會因應造訪的 domain 顯示不同的 theme ，免了過份著重 HKLUG 的問題 ，HKLUG 的 theme 已加了統一的 header ，也連接相同 Adbanner 位，測試了在 Firefox, IE 及 Opera 都可正常顯示。我打算做好 HKLUG 的 theme 後才動手做 DebianHK 的 theme 。搞了一輪，對 MediaWiki Theme 的 customization 總算撑握多了。我本來頗喜歡 Zope 的TAL ，對平衡慣用 Dreamweaver 的 designer 和 programmer 有很太幫助。但早前試過 MediaWiki 的 PHPTal 在 1.4.x 好像不太行，而我又不用 Dreamweaver ，所以現時真觀地改 code 反宜快捷。

改了 backup script 每日把主要的database 資料 (當然不包括用戶個人資料和 images archive ，好像 Wikipedia 般容許任可人下載。

另外我亦安裝了 Graphviz 、Syntax Highlignt 和 Charinsert 三個 extension 。Charinsert 讓可在 MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning 上加入 <charinsert> tags 令用戶在編輯條目時有個 Char 板面方便輸入特別的符號。Syntax Highlist extension 利用 enscript 美化程式碼的顯示，我改動了 code ，令 OSWikiHK 可以用 <perlcode>, <pythoncode>, <shcode>, <bashcode>, <javacode>, <cppcode> 和 <sqlcode> 分別 highlight perl/python/sh/bash/java/c++/sql 的程式碼，亦免了和 HTML 的 <code> 有衝突。 Graphviz extension 以前也提過可以用 <graphviz> 包著 DOT 言語，繪出有向圖，頗有趣。為免有人濫用令系統負荷過重，我改了 code 令只有 sysop 才可以使用 graphviz 。試畫了幾個 graph ，似乎並不易使用，不過對解釋一些程式的流程很有幫助。

因為CableTV的《新增點》對Blog的報導引來香港blog界的熱烈討論。上週看完節目後本來也想插幾句，但看到一大堆「狠評」，反而激起我那「包拗頸」的心態。節目對Blog文化的評價仍是很正面，而大部份解釋亦只算是收集資料不多，還未到達扭曲的地步。相比以往傳媒定性動漫畫為小孩玩物，狠批「暴力」和「色情」成份的動漫畫，將 Hacker 和Script Kiddie混淆扭曲hack為電腦犯罪，對自由軟件文化和免費畫成等號，對 P2P 分享的以先設觀念及對知識產權和專利問題的傳達等，可謂小巫見大巫。年紀大了，開始有點麻目。

並不常看《新增點》，不過大體知其主體在於學習及自我增值的話題上，用近二十分鐘的篇幅去介紹blog文化，能這樣已算不錯。看了幾集覺得這節目的目的觀眾並不是年青人，反而是三十以上被人要求去「增值」的一群(個人觀感，絕對有錯)。 對其仍抱一般成年人角度去看blog文化倒不意外。以節目性質，很難要求其有《鏗鏘集》、《星期X檔案》或《新聞透視》的程度。或者我一向頗在意blogger的陰暗面 (正確應說我個人陰暗面) ，對節目對Blog正面的報導已感安慰。

有人狠評節目鼓勵家長多看子女的blog令blog成為審查工具。我看節目時也暗笑叫家長多看子女blog只會嚇怕年輕人不想寫blog，但被評為審查工具又未免誇張。大概很多人都會感覺到最不瞭解年輕人一般都是家長及老師，在一切被成年人主導的環境以外，Blog自然為年輕人提供了一個自主的思考及交流空間。讓成年人接觸年輕人外一面確實對兩代溝通有很大幫助，不過節目表達方式就有點笨拙，又是一句：「時間關係」。或者令我最覺得可惜的是節目並沒有鼓勵成年人去寫 Blog ，仍夠是典型HK Uncle的「 XXX 是青少年玩意。」

作為一個斷斷續續七、八年的「網上日記」者，看著 OnlineDiary->Weblog->Blog 的變遷，我從來不覺得Blog是什麼偉大的東西(我對Wiki的評論會高點) ，去年看見阿當對Blog的分析實在有點：「Orz」。在我來說Weblog™只是一種管理網站的形式，Blog™是舒展個體思維片段的方式(或者這是這七、八年老blog不叫座的原因 )。對社群或社會的影響始終在於內容而非形式本身。而作為文化看，我的著眼點又和其他人不同。 (寫得太多，懶再提)

或者簡單地說，這是一種玩意，這是一種興趣，這是一種文化，這是一種寫作，這是一種分享，大家享受就夠了。

P.S. 「網誌」OK, 「博客」，受不了。我仍舊認為有些東西不應有中譯。

P.P.S. 當一個blog的瀏量達一個數目，他算不算主流媒體!?

Hey, what is the most stupid configuration mistake you have seen?

I suppose the most common mistake made by many companies few years ago was choosing non RFC1918 specified IP range (192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) for their private network. I met many clients suffer the problem and most of their administrator are too lazy to fix it. Once, I had work in an “enterprise” and got a task to write some program to feed data from a content provider and publish them on our website as HTML. The program function well for over half year. But suddenly, I got a report that the content in our website was not up-to-date. I checked the program and found that it fail to connect to FTP server of the content provider. I even found that the whole office cannot connect to FTP server but I can connect them well from my home and my private server (niet.xychen.org) in another data center. I try to contact our network administrators and discuss the problem with them. However, the result I got was the server of the content provider is “not” reachable and my fellows refusing to investigate the cause of the problem. I was annoyed by my fellows’ attitude but I understand deeply that I would got some political trouble if I don’t shut up. My final solution was using a server in another network to feed the content and pass it to the server in our data center. Silly but works. After I quit the company for a while, some of my old fellows (not in the network administration team) told me that they found the cause finally. One of the partners of my old company is using the same IP network as the content provider in accident for their private network. And my old company had built a VPN with that partner company which make us fail to connect the content provider. What a case to show the problem choosing a wrong IP range and the political problems of a big company!

I stated that coz I had already leave that fucking company for a long time and I was recalled that when I discover another stupid mis-configuration today. I found a mail stuck in my mail server and fail to deliver few minutes ago coz my Postfix fail to connect to a mail server with IP address 10.0.0.2!? I check the MX record of the target domain of the mail and found they had mis-configured the MX server to 10.0.0.2. Interesting!? I wonder how can I contact their system administrator and tell what a stupid mistake they had made.

搞了 MediaWiki 好一段時間，倒沒有留意 MediaWiki 有個不錯的插件 Graphviz ，讓 MediaWiki 可以在文章加入 <graphviz> tag 可以繪出頗美觀的有向圖，對解釋一些軟件關係和網絡結構似乎都頗有用。有時間，考慮安裝在 OSWikiHK 中。

It might be a bit surpire that if a guy think like a female more the a male. Although some of my friends comment my charactor is totally a male charactor, some people had also stated that I’m pretty hyper-sensitive on some area and so easy to attach to some story or song which act like a girl. 接連看到 Carlos 和 Jserv 先後對我 blog 的回應，也感到有點壓力。不過能在兩個 Planet 之間令兩岸三地的自由軟件愛好者有多點交流，也是令我興奮的事。

早前曾在Carlos的blog 討論關 Planet 在自由軟件界扮演的角色，也在這裡再引用一次(順帶做一做記錄)，Carlos說道：

planet 只是诸多发布方法的一种，倒不一定非用它不可。但相比于其它的形式，planet 的优势也是明显的。

1. 对于参与者来说，他们之间可以更方便地进行交流，却又不失自己的个性。这简直就是与开源社区百分之百的契合！
2. 聚合文章的质素都相当高。因为参与者实际上都是在写自己的 blog，他们当然会努力将最好的东西表现出来。
3. 作为一个社群推广网站，planet 又比传统的网站模式多了几分新鲜感和人情味。如果我不是极爱 Debian，估计用不了几天就会对 www.debian.org 厌烦了。
4. planet 完全也可以跟邮件列表等其它交流方式进行配合，DebianTW 的 planet + forum + wiki 组合就相当成熟。

而我再補充：

planet 的作用是想各项目的开发者或参予者们可以得方便看到大家的 blog ，了解彼此的工作和生活锁碎事，也对开发工作有好处。Planet Gnome 也曾讨论过应是否限制只贴有关 Gnome 的 blog ，管理员还是决定维持现状。如 carlos 所说， planet 对一般大众的门槛较低， 开发者们也有互动性。如果你有留意 Planet Gnome 和 Planet Debian ，他们经常一起去做同一个心理测验，用 blog 讨论同一个题目 (Mono vs java, evolution, hula 等)，当然同样的事也可以用 mailling list 去讨论。但 planet 就可以吸引多点使用者去留意。他们也经常把自己对软件的新 idea 贴出来 (偶然还有 screenshot) ，可以取得多点非开发者的意见，这是其他媒体较难做到的。

在寫 blog 方面，我已習慣每次都拜訪 Google 大神幾趟，找link之餘也用來確定自己沒有太多白字。沒法子的話，唯有避重就輕，改用那一詞匯。寫好後，也連檢幾次。其實寫 blog 對我來說一向是自娛、發洩的地方。幼時懶於寫日記，腦中念頭多多，但大部份都沒有表達過出來。Blog 可以記錄腦中某時間的某個想法，也方便我以後把一大堆思緒整理螎合。所以很多內容也不免留於過份偏激或不完整。期望不會引起太大問題。另外，寫blog也是練語文的地方。不寫就永遠不知自己會在那裡出錯。尤其我這類 geek ，不可以一世都只寫和電腦有關的文章。寫 blog 可以在修辭和用字上有多點嘗試。(無論中英文都好)

P.S. 哎，Planet 似乎在讀 atom feed 有問題，一時讀到內文，一時讀不到，現在經常只顯示到 Carlos 及 Ling Li 的標題。等有時間才搞搞。

P.P.S. 幾個月前在家母的書架上找到本教老外普通話的書，文中經常一大段長長的漢語拼音，中文多在頁尾，對糾正我那爛爛的普通話很有幫助。 (在普通話方面給長註北京的 YP 追過有點不甘心。 )

覆一覆 Zhaoway 的Debian/Firefox的中文字体一 blog ，在這裡覆因為 LiveJournal 沒有 trackback 功能 (其實很多站都沒有開 trackback) ，有些見解還想留個記錄，唯有人肉 trackback 。

其實看來主要問題還是 fontconfig。說實，我總是覺得 fontconfig 很詭秘。大概我確實沒有時間去搞清其運作，不過我真的期望有些工具可以解構一下她因那條規則而選了那個字型。我在 OSWikiHK 的上貼上的local.conf 只是包含少部份我可以理解的規則，我自己那個 local.conf 有很多古怪規則。不貼出來的原因是想多點人去 contribute，我也想那份文件可以很清色地解釋每一個步驟的作用，期望不會有太多太個人的設定。有興趣的話，我可以貼我的 local.conf 出來。不過過往參考別人的 local.conf 都發覺作用不太大。

可以留意的是我現時在用 Gnome 2.8 ，預設字型仍是 Sans ， Firefox 上也沒有調過任何字型設定。我的立場是，可以做的話盡可能用 fontconfig 去做，因為這是一次過的做法。如果我們搞好一個完美的 fontconfig 設定，直接分及其他用戶，他們就不用逐個逐去更動每個軟件。這對大部份 GNU/Linux 新手都很重要。另外，你亦可以參考一下國內一些人的 local.conf(LinuxSir 應該有不少)，特別我想你看的文章會以簡體居多。OSWikiHK 中的 local.conf 主要針對繁體。(也可以看看 Eric Cheng的fontconfig Documentation，不過很多規則都好像作用不大，可能fontconfig改了版的關係，大概最終的方法是RTFS)當然我對國內有關文章最不滿的是引用太多版權有問題的字型。我自己偏向盡可能用開源字型去解決問題。

我很同意 jserv 的見解，搞開源的人最好先對版權、許可証等問題有認識 (咦，可能對 jserv 的文有點斷章取義 )。特別是我這類搞開源推廣的 (在開源界這麼多年，發覺自己其實搞推廣多於搞開發) ，更應對版權問題小心和以身作則。常說GNU/Linux在亞洲或中華地區很難搞，因為GNU/Linux的最大賣點 - 低成本在這些地方作用不大。反正大家用 Windoze 都只是幾塊錢那種。GNU/Linux反而成為昂貴的選擇。當然，我一向反對大家仍然將免費午餐這錯誤的觀念和開源軟件連在一起作推廣的最大賣點。歸根結底是中港台的人對智識產權的認知還很低。而我們就更應以身作則，清楚地告訴其他人，其實開源/自由軟件界比任何一個界別都尊重智識產權。
